On the incident of alleged sexual assault with a girl child at a school in Badlapur, Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar tells ANI, "I spoke with school management, management and NGOs which initiated action...I gathered detailed information. I was about to announce the action to be taken, before the protestors. Meanwhile, at the protest site, someone threw a bottle and lathi charge was launched. So, I could not speak with them. But I will speak to the genuine protestors - a lot of them were political...Administrator will be deployed there regarding the delay on the part of the management. They will be given an opportunity to speak, action will be taken...Girl's parents were not in the condition to speak today. I can't meet them publically as it would reveal their identity. If they are fine tomorrow, I will try to meet them..."
Train services resumed Badlapur Railway Station earlier this evening, after protesters vacated the railway tracks.
Local train services on the Ambernath-Karjat section affected by protests at Badlapur railway station in Thane district resumed on Tuesday night after remaining suspended for 10 hours, a Central Railway official said.The first suburban train reached Badlapur station at 8:05 PM, almost 10 hours after the services were suspended, said Swapnil Nila, chief public relations officer of Central Railway.First Up local (Khopoli-CSMT) and Down local (CSMT-Karjat) both passed Badlapur at 8.05 pm, Nila said, adding that services were allowed after Railways operated a light engine on both tracks as per the safety protocol.After a gap of several hours, the first local train for Badlapur from CSMT in south Mumbai departed at around 7 pm.Thousands of protesters on Tuesday blocked railway tracks at Badlapur station over the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old girls by the school sweeper in the washroom, leading to massive disruption of local train services and diversion of some long-distance trains. “There’s no law and order here. The government is responsible. The CM and Deputy CM should resign,” Maharashtra Legislative Council LoP Ambadas Danve told PTI.
“Maharashtra CM is promoting ‘Ladki Bahini’ Yojana and here ‘Ladki Bahin’ are being targetted and tortured. They are our sisters,” he added.

Is he the Home Minister?... The entire Mahrashtra govt is not good, the CM, and DCMs, don't have the right to be in the govt."
A few people were seen pelting stones at the Police at Badlapur Railway Station after the personnel resorted to lathi-charge to disperse protestors gathered here in protest over the incident, news agency ANI reported citing visuals from earlier today.

At Badlapur Station, Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan tells the media, "A protest was ongoing here for the past 10 hours. We have all opposed the incident that has taken place. I have been here since this afternoon. I spoke with the agitators for an hour and also requested them to vacate the Railway track. All their demands - trial in fast track court, we appointed Ujjwal Nikam as the advocate, action against school administration, action against negligent Police officers - have been met. We too want the strictest punishment for accused. But the protesters wanted that the accused be brought before them and hanged before them. But we can't do that...There is no such law..."
Police resort to lathi-charge to disperse protestors gathered at Badlapur railway station to protest against alleged sexual assault with a girl student, ANI reported.
Maharashtra Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Aditi Tatkare informs that the school principal has been suspended after two minor girls were sexually assaulted.
She told ANI, "It's an unfortunate incident. The home ministry has set up an SIT and has sought the report at the earliest... The state home minister has suspended the local police officer who has delayed registering the case. The principal of the school has also been suspended and the management is being investigated... We are concentrating on providing justice to the victim and the harshest possible punishment for those who committed this crime. There has been no ignorance from the govt side in taking action..."
On Badlapur incident, LoP Maharashtra Vijay Wadettiwar says, "Mahrashtra should be ashamed that such an incident has occurred in the state. The law and order situation in the state is bad. We demand that the matter should be fast-tracked and within 3 months the accused should be given the death penalty. There are crowds on the road and school premises are being vandalised. The police official kept the victim's family waiting for 11 hours before filing FIR as the school was associated with those in power today. This police officer is fully responsible."
Badlapur Case Timeline:
- The incident happened on August 13 between 9 am and 12 am.
- The age of the victim is 3 years and 10 months. The girl lives with her grandparents, maternal uncle, and aunt in Badlapur. Both parents live in Kalyan for work.
- On 13th August, the father of another girl from the school said that his daughter said that a Dada (in Marathi Dada means brother) from the school touched her private part. He said he would get his daughter medically examined.
- This made the first girl's grandfather suspicious and he got the girl medically examined and rape was confirmed in the medical examination.
- The victim's parents were called to Badlapur on August 15 and the entire incident was narrated.

Maharashtra government minister Girish Mahajan has reached the Badalpur station where protests are taking place. The police officer who delayed taking up the case is being suspended with immediate effect, he said.

On sexual assault with a girl child at a school in Badlapur, NCPCR Chairperson Priyank Kanungo tells ANI, "The school's attitude in this case was insensitive. They tried to suppress the case. The concerned police station did not register an FIR in due time...A team will sent to the spot...The Deputy CM of Maharashtra has decided to remove the officers of the concerned police station. This is a positive step...Action should be taken against school administration or those responsible for not registering the FIR and suppressing the case..."
The rail roko protest at Badlapur station in Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday over the alleged sexual abuse of two girl students of a kindergarten led to the diversion of 10 long-distance trains via alternate routes, the Central Railway said.
As protesters, including several women, came on railway tracks and blocked traffic, local train services between Ambernath and Karjat stations were suspended from 10:10 AM.
The protest turned violent as agitators vandalised the school, where the alleged incident occurred last week, and also indulged in stone-pelting at the Badlapur railway station, police said. (PTI)

Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbre addresses protesters at Badlapur railway station as agitation intensifies over the alleged sexual assault of two nursery kids by male attendant at a local school.
"I am shocked, saddened, outraged and very perturbed. Women are often told to go outside only at a certain time, with safety, wear certain types of clothes and it was women's fault. These were just 4-year-old girls. Every parent believes that school is the place outside home, where girls can feel safe. On alleged sexual assault with a girl child at a school in Badlapur, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray says, "Not only in Badlapur, such incidents should not happen anywhere in the country...We were going to pass the Shakti Bill but our govt was toppled. It is the responsibility of those people who toppled our government and are now in power to pass the Shakti Bill and take the strictest action...I have come to know that the school in which this incident took place belongs to the people of BJP. Mumbai Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has said: "This is the same anger that was seen after the incident with the woman in Bengal. Both should get justice."
So far, 10 mail/express trains have been diverted via Karjat-Panvel-Thane station. Local trains between CSMT and Ambarnath are running normally. Badlapur to Karjat Services are suspended, the Central Railway has said.
The Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena has demanded that rapists be treated like terrorists and sought President Droupadi Murmu's assent to the Maharashtra Shakti Bill to "empower the law on crimes against women". Posting on X, Aaditya Thackeray said: "We need justice: we need examples of harsh punishment which will set fear in the minds of these rapists."
Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly: Vijay Wadettiwar spoke to Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbre over phone demanding that the officer who made the parents wait at the police station for 11 hours should be suspended.
"The incident of torture of the two minor girls in Badlapur has made Maharashtra bow down in shame. The parents of the victim girls were kept in the police station for 11 hours without taking their complaint. The woman officer who neglected the complaint in the matter should be suspended. Our demand is that the case should be fast-tracked within three months and the accused should be sentenced to death," Congress leader Wadettiwar said in a video message on X.

Massive protests have erupted in Maharashtra after a case of sexual assault of minor schoolgirls, aged three and four, in Thane district's Badlapur came to the fore. Protesters stopped trains and blocked the tracks. The protests erupted at Badlapur railway station as residents and parents voiced their anger over the alleged sexual assault of the two girls at a local school.
According to Central Railway's Public Relations Officer, local train services were halted due to the protests. The incident came to light on August 18. So far, one suspect has been arrested. The parents of the minor girls have filed a complaint.
As the protests at Badlapur Station continued, train operations in the area were hit. Rajya Sabha MP from the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena Priyanka Chaturvedi called on the President to approve the Maharashtra Shakti Criminal Law, to prevent future crimes against women and children. Chaturvedi slammed the Eknath Shinde-led state government for failing to ensure the safety of minors.
In response to the outcry over the assaults, the school suspended its principal and two staffers. Meanwhile, angry parents and locals staged a blockade at the railway station early on Tuesday morning, demanding justice. Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have promised strict action against those responsible.
Around 8 AM, hundreds of residents, including parents of the children, blocked the tracks at Badlapur railway station, severely disrupting train services in both directions. The situation escalated as protesters clashed with police, leading to stone-pelting and the use of tear gas by law enforcement to disperse the crowd.
The police had earlier apprehended a school attendant, Akshay Shinde, on August 17, in connection with the alleged abuse of the two young girls. The children reportedly informed their parents that Shinde had inappropriately touched them in the school's restroom, prompting the parents to file a complaint. The police have charged Shinde under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, leading to his arrest.
In light of the incident, the school's management announced the suspension of the principal, a teacher, and a female attendant, holding them accountable for the incident. The school also issued an apology and terminated its contract with the housekeeping firm responsible, promising to enhance security measures on campus.
In addition, the local police station's officer-in-charge was transferred due to the alleged mishandling of the initial complaint by the parents.
