One of the shooters involved in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique was promised a passport based on fake documents so that he could flee the country. The masterminds of the murder also paid the shooter, Gurmail Singh (23), Rs 50,000.
The NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his MLA son Zeeshan's office in Mumbai's Bandra area on October 12. Two shooters, Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap were arrested in connection with the case while the third shooter Shivkumar Gautam is still on the run.
Singh, a resident of Haryana's Kaithal had a murder case registered against him in 2019, according to an official, reported by the Times of India.

He feared conviction in that case and wanted to escape from the country.
On Wednesday, four more people were arrested in the case taking the total number of arrests to 14. Among those arrested were Amit Hisamsing Kumar (29), Rupesh Rajendra Mohol (22), Karan Rahul Salve (19), and Shivam Arvind Kohad (20).
Amit Kumar has been suspected of his involvement in hatching the murder conspiracy and its execution. Suspected financial dealings between him and the other accused are also under the scanner, as per the officials.
The investigators are considering Kumar as an important link between Gurmail Singh and alleged mastermind Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtar who is absconding, as per the police, reported PTI.

According to a preliminary probe, Akhtar was a common link between shooters and murder conspirators.
During interrogation, Kumar had said he had full knowledge about the murder. He also said Akhtar had told him that someone would send money to his account. He was supposed to withdraw the money and give it to Akhtar, said the Mumbai police.
