The Delhi Congress on Tuesday extended their congratulations to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi for being elected the new Chief Minister of Delhi. However, the grand old party hit out at the AAP government and it cannot run away from the promises it made to the people of Delhi.

Addressing the media after AAP announced the name of the new Chief Minister, Delhi Congress Chief Devender Yadav claimed that Atishi will remain on the top post for just 'three' months, indicating Delhi might see early Assembly elections in November. The tenure of the Delhi Assembly is set to end in February 2025.

"I extend best wishes to the new chief minister and I am hopeful that the problems of the public of Delhi will be resolved. The AAP government cannot run away from the promises that they made after the formation of their government...She has become the Chief Minister for just three months as AAP has been exposed in front of the public. Congress will form its Chief Minister in 2025," Yadav said

AAP's INDIA bloc partner Congress, too, hit out at Atishi. Congress leader Udit Raj lashed out at the CM designate. Udit Raj said she was working contrary to her promises before the Delhi elections in 2020. "You are not fulfilling what you promised. You only worry about winning elections," Udit Raj said reported ABP News.

Although AAP and Congress are part of the INDIA bloc against the BJP at the Centre, the two are not allied in most states. The most intense of rivalry between the two parties can be seen in Delhi and Punjab.
