An arrow pierced into the skull of a Sub-Inspector after a team of police personnel were attacked in Araria district of Bihar following a land dispute.


The police team had reached Jokihat in the Araria district to resolve a land dispute when they were attacked using bow and arrows, according to a report in NDTV. 


The incident reportedly occurred on Monday morning when the police team had arrived in Pokhariya village under Mahalgaon Police Station in Jokihat block where some miscreants were trying to occupy land illegally.


The police said that a mob of 200 people began erecting bamboo on the disputed land, which led to a law and order situation. The land reportedly belonged to one Bhup Narayan Yadav.






"In the Mahalgawan police station area of the Jokihat block in Araria district, a land-related dispute unfolded today (September 23, 2024) at around 3:00 AM in the village of Pokharia. One party, consisting of approximately two hundred people, began erecting bamboo on the disputed land, leading to a law and order issue," the Araria Police said in a statement.


When the police intervened, one of the cops was hit in the face with the arrow. The injured police personnel has been identified as Nusrat Parveen, who is a Sub-Inspector in Mahalgaon Police Station. 


The police personnel has been admitted to a hospital and is said to be in critical condition.




"When the Mahalgawan police station chief and police force arrived at the scene to maintain order, some unruly elements in the crowd violently attacked the police. As a result, one police officer was injured and has been admitted for treatment at Max Hospital in Purnia. Currently, sufficient law enforcement and magistrate presence has been deployed to maintain order at the site, and the situation is now normal," the police added.


The police statement said that further action is being taken regarding the arrest of those accused involved in the incident. A case has also been registered at the Mahalgawan police station under Section 112.
