A foreign woman tourist lost her life after falling while visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The tourist, whose identity was not disclosed died while climbing the ramp leading to the ticket counter, a police official said.
ACP Taj Security in Agra, Syed Areeb Ahmad told news agency ANI that she was part of a group of tourists and was rushed to the monument's gate in a wheelchair after her condition worsened. He further added that the death of the woman took place outside of the monument.
Russian Tourist On A Visit To Goa Drowned In Arabian Sea
In a related incident, a 33-year-old Russian tourist drowned in the Arabian Sea near Goa’s Morjim beach, while his female companion was rescued by locals, police reported on Monday, September 9.
The tragedy took place early Sunday morning when Dimitri Lvov (33) and his partner, Irina Rudemko (28), ventured into the sea around 5 am. Strong undercurrents pulled them deeper into the water.
As per the report by news agency PTI, Locals managed to save Rudemko, but Lvov drowned. His body was later recovered by lifeguards, according to police officials.
In a separate case, a 62-year-old tourist from Bengaluru, Abdul Rafique, went missing on Thursday afternoon, April 16, during a visit to the Dudhsagar waterfall in Goa's Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
Rafique, who was traveling with his wife and staying in a South Goa hotel, hired a jeep to reach the waterfall. According to his wife, the vehicle stopped near a rivulet in the dense forest at around 1:30 pm.
Moments later, Rafique was nowhere to be found. Fellow passengers searched the area and notified authorities, but the circumstances of his disappearance remain unclear. A missing persons report has been filed, police confirmed.
