Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal recently said that he has never used any app apart from his own to order food. Speaking in an interview with Moneycontrol, the entrepreneur talked in detail about the food delivery industry, competition, and his own experience in managing a publicly listed company.

Responding to questions if he has used competitor apps like Swiggy or new platforms such as the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Goyal said, “No, I have not ordered food outside of Zomato. Never ever. Never ordered on Swiggy, nor opened anybody else’s app.”

The executive looked back on Zomato’s journey and reflected on the intensifying competition in the food delivery sector. Notably, Swiggy is all set to become a publicly listed company with its upcoming initial public offering (IPO) worth $1.25 billion. The company has also been in the news for coming on as the sponsor for Shark Tank India’s fourth season, wherein, it paid Rs 25 crore as part of the deal. This resulted in Goyal’s exit from the show which was a major demand kept forward by Swiggy as part of its sponsorship.
