Gurugram boasts 23 individuals with a net worth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore, but the CEO of online food delivery platform, Zomato, Deepinder Goyal, despite his wealth of Rs 9,300 crore, isn't the city's richest resident. That title belongs to Nirmal Kumar Minda, Chairman and Managing Director of UNO Minda, whose fortune far surpasses Goyal's.
According to the Hurun India Rich List 2024, Minda's net worth stands at an impressive Rs 30,800 crore ($3.6 billion), making him the wealthiest person in Gurugram and placing him 91st among India's richest individuals.
The Rise of Nirmal Kumar Minda
At 66, Nirmal Kumar Minda leads UNO Minda, a company his father, Shadilal Minda, founded in 1958. The business, which started as a modest auto ancillary company, has grown under Nirmal’s leadership to become a key manufacturer of automotive components for cars and two-wheelers. Minda joined the family business in 1977, eventually separating from his brother in the 1990s to lead UNO Minda independently. His wife, Suman Minda, oversees the Suman Nirmal Minda Foundation (SNMF), the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm.

Gurugram's Wealthiest
After Minda and Goyal, the third spot on Gurugram's rich list is occupied by Varun and Ghazal Alagh, founders of Honasa Consumer Ltd, known for their Mamaearth brand. Their combined net worth for 2024 is estimated at Rs 5,900 crore.
In fourth place is Jyoti Bhatia, sister of Rahul Bhatia, co-founder of IndiGo Airlines. Rounding out the top five is Ravinder Kumar of Gawar Construction, with a net worth of Rs 4,300 crore.
This year’s Hurun India Rich List showcases not only the staggering fortunes amassed in Gurugram but also highlights the key industries — auto manufacturing, e-commerce, and construction — that have fueled this wealth.
