Tesla Layoff: An Indian woman residing in the US, Sneha Karnik, has taken to LinkedIn to share her experience of being unexpectedly laid off from Tesla. Karnik, who held the position of Business Process Analyst at the electric vehicle manufacturer, described the news as "disheartening and distressing."

In her post, Karnik revealed that she was among the 10 per cent of Tesla employees who were laid off this week. The sudden nature of the layoff left her uneasy, especially after she was logged out of all business platforms the previous day. Karnik expressed surprise at having to announce her job loss, stating, "I could never have imagined that I would be typing this message."

Karnik joined Tesla as an intern and later advanced to her role as Business Process Analyst. Her current situation is complicated by her status on an F1-OPT visa, which gives her only a 60-day window to find new employment. She called on her LinkedIn network for support, seeking leads or job openings in process, operations, and business analytics roles.

"I'm reaching out to my network for support as I explore opportunities in Process, Operations, and Business Analytics roles. Any leads or job openings you can share would be greatly appreciated," she wrote.

Reports indicate that Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, announced plans to cut over 10 per cent of its global workforce on Monday. An internal email accessed by electrick.com explained that the decision was part of a necessary cost-cutting measure to streamline the company for its next phase of growth. Musk stated in the email that a thorough review of the organisation had prompted the difficult decision to reduce headcount globally.

Musk acknowledged the challenge of the decision, saying, "As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity. There is nothing I hate more, but it must be done."
