Elon Musk-led electric car maker Tesla finally made it to India. Tesla chose country’s IT hub Bengaluru as its operational ground and has registered itslef with three directors.


The company was incorporated on January 8, as Tesla Motors India and Energy Private Limited with its registered office in Bengaluru. The regulatory filing shows the Indian unit has three directors including David Feinstein, who is currently a senior executive at Tesla, according to his LinkedIn profile, V Sreeram, and Vaibhav Taneja.

In a now-deleted tweet, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had expressed happiness over the introduction of Tesla in India. Welcoming the "world's richest man" he had said, "Karnataka will lead India's journey towards Green Mobility. Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla will soon start its operations in India with an R&D unit in Bengaluru."

Meanwhile, as per reports the electric carmaker giant is also in touch with as many as five state governments to set up operations in the country which includes Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, Elon Musk also confirmed the entry of Tesla into the Indian market. Last month, Musk said, "Next year for sure" on Twitter in reply to a post with a photograph of a T-shirt with the message: "India wants Tesla".

Nitin Gadkari, Union Transport Minister had announced Tesla's arrival in India. Transport Minister had informed that Tesla Model 3 will be launched first in India.

Tesla's entry into India comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is increasingly focusing to promote the use of electric vehicles.
