The two key equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, on Tuesday are trading higher with the BSE Sensex crossing the 75-k mark for the first time, while the NSE Nifty50 too hit a new life-time high in the morning. The BSE Sensex gained 315 points to 75,017. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty50 was trading at 22,743, up 77 points.
Stock update
On the 30-share Sensex platform, Infosys, Tata Steel, HCLTech, ICICI Bank, Nestle, Asian Paints emerged early gainers. On the down side, L&T, Airtel, Kotak Bank, Titan, Reliance, NTPC were among the losers.
In the broader markets, the BSE Midcap moved up 0.17 per cent, while the Smallcap index advanced 0.43 per cent.
Sector update
Sectorwise, Information Technology and Realty indices jumped 1 per cent each, while PSU Bank index dipped marginally.
In the previous session on Monday, the BSE Sensex went up 494 points higher to close at 74,743, while the NSE Nifty50 soared to 163 points to 22,666.
"The new records set by the market yesterday confirm the bullish market undertone. A healthy and desirable trend in the market movement yesterday was the outperformance of the largecaps. This trend is likely to continue," said V K Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist, Geojit Financial Services.
Global markets update
Meanwhile, Asian markets saw Tokyo and Hong Kong trading in positive territory, while Seoul and Shanghai experienced declines. Wall Street closed with mixed results on Monday.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold off equities worth Rs 684.68 crore on Monday.
The global oil benchmark, Brent crude, rose by 0.19 percent to reach $90.55 per barrel.

Meanwhile, forex and money markets remained closed on Tuesday on account of 'Gudhipadwa'.
