As the market gears up for the festive season in full swing in October, investors might benefit from scheduling their trades in the stock market based on the holiday calendar. In October, the stock market will remain closed for nine days.


These holidays include weekend holidays of Saturdays and Sundays, which are typically non-trading days for the market. Further, the stock market would remain closed for trading on October 2, 2024 to mark the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. 


This holiday list is available on the BSE website under the ‘Trading Holidays’ section. Investors should only rely on the official list to schedule their stock market trades. 


Notably, in September, the stock market had no special holiday apart from the general weekend leaves. The list for the remaining holidays for the stock market in 2024 is given below.

List Of Stock Market Holidays For Remaining 2024:



  • Diwali (Laxmi Pujan): The stock market will hold a special trading session on November 1, 2024, to celebrate Diwali and Laxmi Pujan. This session, known as Muhurat trading, marks the auspicious occasion of the festival.


 



  • Gurunanak Jayanti: The market will be closed on November 15, 2024, in honour of Gurunanak Jayanti.


 



  • Christmas: The stock market will remain shut on December 25, 2024, to celebrate Christmas.


The stock market experienced a record-breaking rally last week. The anticipation of a rate cut from the US Fed calmed worries about a slowdown in the American economy and resulted in a bullish week for the market.


In the last week itself, the key equity benchmarks soared to fresh highs. The BSE Sensex rallied 1,653.37 points or 1.99 per cent, while the NSE Nifty50 surged 434.45 points or 1.71 per cent. 


On Monday, the markets opened in green taking ahead the rally seen in Asian markets. As of 11 AM, the Sensex climbed over 200 points to touch 84,755, while the Nifty inched up by nearly 100 points to trade at 25,888.
