The stock markets in November are expected to have more trading holidays than earlier scheduled. Due to the upcoming Assembly election in Maharashtra, investors will not be able to trade in the stock market on November 20, 2024.


The stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, will remain closed for the public on the day, therefore, no trading will take place in the equity segment, equity derivative segment, and SLB segment.


Investors will be unable to place trades in the commodity derivatives and electronic gold receipts (EGR) segments as well. This will mean no action for the traders on the MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) and the NCDEX (National Commodity Exchange) during the trading hours on November 20, 2024.


Other Stock Market Holidays In November


In addition to this holiday, the stock markets also observed a holiday on November 1 to celebrate the festival of Diwali. The markets held a one-hour special Muhurat Trading session on the day between 6 pm to 7:10 pm to bring in the new Hindu calendar in an auspicious way.


Going ahead, traders can expect a shortened trading week due to the upcoming stock market holiday on November 15, 2024 to mark the festival of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Additionally, the stock market will observe another holiday in December on the 25th day of the month, to celebrate the festival of Christmas. Investors can access the official trading holidays list on the BSE website. This is the only reliable source that helps traders manage their financial sessions and decisions.


The schedule for the upcoming elections in Maharashtra was announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Voters can cast their votes for the same in a single phase on November 20, while the counting and results will be declared on November 23. The current term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly ends on November 26, 2024.
