New Delhi: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air, which will be launched soon, on Monday tweeted some pictures of its first aircraft.

“Can’t keep calm! Say hi to our QP-pie!" Akasa Air tweeted sharing the pic of the aircraft.

On November 26, 2021, Akasa Air had signed a deal with Boeing to buy 72 MAX aircraft. The airline has ordered 72 Boeing 737MAX planes. The delivery of the first aircraft is expected by June and the airline is expecting to start its commercial flight operations in July.

Last week, Akasa Air announced its new airline code – ‘QP’.

Every airline in the world has a designated code like the IndiGo's code is ‘6E’, Air India’s is ‘AI’, while SpiceJet’s code is ‘SG’.

Akasa Air’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said, “As we get closer to the airline launch date, we can now confirm refined estimates on our timelines. We expect our first aircraft delivery by early June 2022, with the intention to start commercial operations in July 2022.”

The company has already received its no-objection certificate (NOC) from the civil aviation ministry in August 2021 to start its commercial flight services.

The airline is backed by ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and aviation veterans Vinay Dube and Aditya Ghosh.

Recently, the company has chosen the Cloud-enabled Navitaire Airline Platform to power its digital retailing strategy.

In a joint statement, Akasa and Navitaire said that Navitaire Airline will leverage key solutions, including the New Skies order-based reservation and retailing system, Digital Platform, GoNow day-of-departure and SkyLedger revenue accounting systems.
