The process for applying for an Aadhaar remains almost the same as to an adult. In case of a child below five years, parents can visit the nearest Aadhaar care centre along with the child and fill up the form. Remember that kids below five years won’t need to capture biometrics. Their UID will be processed on the basis of demographic information and facial photograph linked with the UID of their parents.

However, if the child is above 5 years of age, the child’s biometrics will be captured for Aadhaar.

How to update child's biometric in Aadhaar?

A child will have to update his or her biometrics including 10 fingers, iris and facial photograph twice, once when the child turns 5 and again at the time s/he turns 15 years. Intimation to this effect will be mentioned in the original Aadhaar letter.
