New Delhi: Several customers of HDFC Bank are reportedly experiencing inconvenience while using their internet banking, the bank informed on Tuesday. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, HDFC bank informed about the issue and apologised to its customers vowing to resolve the technical glitch at the earliest possible. 


“Some customers are facing intermittent issues accessing our Net Banking or Mobile Banking App. We are looking into it on priority for resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience and request you to try again after some time. Thank you,” HDFC Bank Cares tweeted. 



The statement by HDFC bank came soon after several customers raised the issue on the Twitter handle of HDFC Bank Care. Several customers complained about the issue with their internet banking, and mobile app banking of HDFC during banking hour on Tuesday.

While several HFDC Bank customers claimed that this is not the first time they are facing this issue, some said that the glitch has been going on for several hours.


The HDFC Care Twitter handle has urged the customers not to share any personal or banking information publicly, instead, they can direct message HDFC Bank Cares those details.


The error in HDFC Bank's digital banking services comes months after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) asked the bank to temporarily stop all launches under its Digital 2.0 initiative and stop sourcing new credit card customers.

The announcement by the Central bank came on the backdrop of multiple outages the bank faced in its internet banking, mobile banking and payment utility services over the past few years.


"RBI has issued an order dated December 2, 2020, to HDFC Bank Ltd with regard to certain incidents of outages in the internet banking/ mobile banking/ payment utilities of the bank over the past two years, including the recent outages in the bank's internet banking and payment system on November 21, 2020, due to a power failure in the primary data centre," HDFC Bank had said in a regulatory filing.


The HDFC Bank has even been penalised for two major outages, one in November 2018 and the other in December 2019.
