More than 25,000 cases of Starbucks chilled coffee drink has been recalled by Pepsico Inc after glass was found in some of the bottles, the US Food and Drug administration said in a statement on Saturday, according to news agency Reuters.

The company initiated the action to recall more than 300,000 bottles of the Starbucks frappuccino vanilla chilled coffee drink on January 28, said FDA.

"The removal of these products from the marketplace is currently under way," said the North American Coffee partnership, reported The Guardian, citing Insider.

The FDA categorised it as a Class 2 recall, which according to its website means "product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote",

According to the notice issued by the company, bottles with expiration dates March 8th, May 29th, June 4th and 10th, have been affected, Reuters reported.

Pepsico Inc does not sell Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccinos in Starbucks stores but customers can find them at several retail chains across the country, including Walmart, Amazon and Target, reported The Guardian.

This is not the first time that the company has recalled the Starbucks product. In August, PepsiCo had to recall Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot drinks in Arkansas, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas. That recall was labeled class two as well by the company.

In all 221 cases of the product were affected, the FDA reported. The notice specifically applied to 15-ounce cans that came in packs of 12.

After the finding, consumers were recommended to dispose of the recalled product immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
