The development of the Noida International Film City project is expected to commence soon, the Uttar Pradesh government said on Friday. Issuing an official statement in Lucknow, the state government said that the project’s construction will start within six months and also create 50,000 jobs and provide benefits to 7 lakh people indirectly.
Backed by filmmaker Boney Kapoor, Bayview Projects, and real estate developer, Ashish Bhutani, inked an agreement to develop the film city with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), an undertaking of the state government, reported PTI.
“The construction of the Film City will provide employment opportunities to 50,000 people from the state and neighbouring states, while indirectly benefiting five to seven lakh people with job opportunities,” the statement said.
The construction of the project is expected to start within half a year and the government informed that film shooting will begin in three years, along with other activities. Through the project, the aim is to ‘fulfill the aspirations of the people of state seeking opportunities in the film industry and provide a viable alternative to established hubs like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai’, the statement noted.
Arun Vir Singh, Chief Executive Officer, YEIDA, commented, “The constitution of a film city alongside the upcoming airport in Jewar was Adityanath' vision, which is now set to become a reality. Construction of the Film City is scheduled to begin within the next four to six months, with film-related activities expected to commence within three years.”
Singh stated that the initiative would help benefit several individuals such as technicians, mixers, actors, storytellers, and cameramen, ‘who, despite possessing exceptional skills, face challenges accessing platforms within the state itself’.
The executive shared that this project would be completely different and will address the shortcomings of the other film cities across the country. A major advantage, he added, would be the reduced travel time due to the location’s proximity to Jewar airport.
