Karan Adani, Managing Director (MD), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd described the inauguration of Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA)'s Terminal 3 as a historic moment as he expressed his vision for CCSIA's growth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event in Azamgarh inaugurated the integrated Terminal 3 (T3) of the CCSIA on Sunday, in a significant addition to Uttar Pradesh's aviation infrastructure.
Built at a cost of Rs. 2,400 crore, the state-of-the-art terminal will cater to both domestic and international flights, with a capacity to handle 4,000 passengers during peak hours.
Addressing the occasion, Karan Adani stated, "Our vision for CCSIA is big and far-reaching. The master plan aims to expand the airport's capacity to ultimately serve 38 million passengers annually by 2047-48. This exponential growth is a cornerstone of our strategy to support Uttar Pradesh's aspiration to become a one-trillion-dollar economy."

Describing the inauguration of Terminal 3 as a historic moment, he remarked, "Today, we are making history. This new Terminal 3 will transform CCSIA into the Gateway to Uttar Pradesh." He highlighted the terminal's design to accommodate 8 million passengers annually in Phase-I, with plans to increase capacity to 13 million passengers in Phase 2.
"Yet, what sets Terminal T3 apart is not just its scale or the sophistication of its facilities. It’s the heart and soul we have poured into incorporating Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage into its design. From the moment travellers set foot in Terminal T3, they are greeted with the Swaagat Wall, a magnificent display that captures the essence of Lucknow’s skyline, leading them through an immersive journey that includes the floral festivity of “Basant Bahar,” the serene beauty of the “Ghats of Uttar Pradesh,” and the innovative “Reflections of Rohu” installation," he further highlighted.
The new terminal boasts state-of-the-art amenities and features aimed at enhancing passenger convenience. It includes 72 check-in counters, 62 immigration counters, and modern lounges to ensure swift and comfortable transit. The newly constructed apron will increase passenger boarding gates from 7 to 13, further improving operational efficiency.
Adani emphasised initiatives such as Digiyatra for biometric access, self-service kiosks, and automated baggage systems to streamline the travel experience and reflect their commitment to innovation and efficiency.
He further highlighted the terminal's features and significance, stating, "The Phase-I of Terminal 3 is designed and engineered to accommodate 8 million passengers a year – that is two times the population of this city! With an initial investment of 2,400 crores, this state-of-the-art facility is a visible example of our commitment to augmenting passenger experience and operational efficacy."
Expressing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Adani Ports MD reiterated, "Our ecological footprint has been minimized to preserve the natural beauty of our surroundings for future generations."
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for their "unwavering support and guidance". Adani credited the leadership for enabling Uttar Pradesh to enter "an era of extraordinary development".
