Oil marketing companies have revised the prices of commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. The rate of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders has been slashed by Rs 19 with effect from Wednesday, May 1. The retail sale price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is now Rs 1,745.50. Earlier, the price of 19 kg cylinder in Delhi was Rs 1764.50.
Last month, oil marketing companies reduced the price of commercial cylinders by Rs 30.50 on April 1. Oil marketing companies had earlier increased the price by Rs 25.50 in March and Rs 14 in February, whereas on January 1, the price was reduced marginally by Rs 1.50.
Commercial prices of the 19 kg LPG cylinder in major cities after the May 1 reduction are as follows:
City | Price |
Delhi | Rs 1745.50 |
Mumbai | Rs 1698.50 |
Chennai | Rs 1911 |
Kolkata | Rs 1859 |
The decline in LPG cylinder prices coincides with the ongoing decrease in global oil prices, which serve as the benchmark for domestic fuel prices. This marks the third consecutive day of oil price reductions, observed on Wednesday. The drop in oil prices can be linked to the mounting crude inventories in the US and the growing optimism surrounding a potential ceasefire agreement in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, in April, several companies announced a price reduction for 19 kg commercial cylinders and 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders. Furthermore, state-run Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) raised the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) in major metro cities across the country.
The ATF price increased by Rs 749.25 per kilolitre, equivalent to a 0.7% hike, reaching Rs 101,642.88 per kl in the national capital. This increase counteracts the slight 0.5% reduction that had been implemented on April 1.
