Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani said on Tuesday that the Indian economy would grow 13 fold to become a USD 40 trillion economy by 2047 driven by a clean energy revolution and digitalisation. India is currently the fifth largest economy in the world, behind only the US, China, Japan and Germany.

Speaking virtually during the 10th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, Ambani said, "From a 3 trillion-dollar economy, India will grow to become a 40 trillion-dollar economy by 2047, ranking among the top three economies of the world."

Last week, Gautam Adani stated that India would become a $30 trillion economy by 2050 on back of rising consumption and socio-economic reforms.

Ambani said three game-changing revolutions would govern India's growth in the decades ahead.

"Clean energy and bio-energy will transform our lives. And, energy sustainability will enable us to consume resources efficiently. These will protect the world from the climate crisis. There are necessary ingredients that India needs. India should lead in achieving these goals," Ambani said.

"While the clean energy revolution and the bio-energy revolution will produce energy sustainably, the digital revolution will enable us to consume energy efficiently," the RIL chairman further said.

Ambani, who is also the president of the University Board of Governors, asked students to be sensitive to 'Mother Nature'. "Think green. Green energy movement is being sensitive to mother nature. We have to leave behind healthier planet for the future. Digitisaiton will be force multiplier. AI are enablers of change," he said.

Congratulating the students at the ceremony, he said that the university had made its students future-ready because it researches and teaches energy with a very comprehensive perspective. Mukesh Ambani shared three mantras with students. He said. "Think big. Be an audacious dreamer. Own your dream with courage. Realise with bold and disciplined action. It is only this way you make the impossible possible."

Speaking on the importance of green energy in the betterment of the nation, He told the students to take advantage of opportunities that are before them. He said, “Amrit Kal is an auspicious time for any new beginning. India is aiming for economic growth and opportunities. A bright future beckons you. Step out at the opportunity that knocks at your door. You have to ensure India leads.”
