Petrol, diesel prices today: Fuel prices in the national capital surged again on Thursday. Petrol and Diesel prices in Delhi increased by Rs 0.15 and Rs 0.20, respectively. The people are now purchasing petrol for Rs 84 and diesel at the cost of Rs 75.45 per litre.

Likewise, in Mumbai, the price of fuel continues its record-breaking climb with an increase of Rs 0.14 and Rs 0.21 on petrol and diesel, respectively. Currently, a litre of petrol in Mumbai is being retailed at Rs 83.85 whereas diesel costs Rs 75.26.

Even in other metro cities of the country, the prices moved to new highs. With petroleum still excluded from the GST regime, prices vary according to local taxes. Delhi has lower tax among the four major metros.

Fuel prices have been witnessing a steep rise since the past few months. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said earlier that the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country was because of the depreciation in the value of the Indian Rupee against the US dollar.
