Jay-Z, the multiple Grammy-winning rapper, has teamed up with former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to launch The Bitcoin Academy, a programme that aims to spread crypto knowledge among people. The new project is specifically set up for residents of Marcy Houses, a public housing complex in Brooklyn, New York, US. The Bitcoin Academy has been developed in collaboration with financial consultant Crypto Blockchain Plug and popular Clubhouse group Black Bitcoin Billionaire. From eligibility to class dates, here’s everything you need to know about The Bitcoin Academy.

The Bitcoin Academy: Vision

Dorsey, who is currently the CEO of fintech platform Square, took to Twitter to announce The Bitcoin Academy, describing it as a programme for “residents of Marcy Houses in Brooklyn New York where Jay grew up.”

As per the project’s official website, The Bitcoin Academy “aims to provide education, empower the community with knowledge, and get rid of some of the barriers so that residents can learn more about Bitcoin specifically and finance in general.”

Dorsey wrote in this tweet, "Education is where we start. This isn’t just about Bitcoin…it’s about long-term thinking, local economies, and self-confidence. Courses are free to all Marcy residents, including kids. And to make it even easier we’re providing devices and data plans for all who need it."

The instructors, Black Bitcoin Billionaire founder Lamar Wilson and Najah J. Roberts, the chief visionary officer of Crypto Blockchain Plug, will impart knowledge on Bitcoin, how it works, and how can it help in building a financial future.
