Budget 2024: The Halwa ceremony, a traditional event marking the final stage of the Union Budget preparation process, was held on Tuesday in North Block. The ceremony was attended by Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, signalling the beginning of the “lock-in” process for Budget preparation.


The countdown has officially begun for the Union Budget 2024, set to be presented in Parliament on July 23 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. As the first full Union Budget of Modi 3.0, it carries high expectations from both the corporate sector and the general public.






In an official notification, it was announced that the Budget Session of Parliament will commence on July 22. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju confirmed the schedule, stating that the Union Budget will be presented by Sitharaman on July 23. The session will conclude on August 12.


Having presented an interim Budget earlier, Sitharaman will now present a full Budget aimed at focusing on economic growth and job creation under the Modi 3.0 government. 


Following tradition, the Union Budget will be tabled in Parliament at 11:00 am. This year’s presentation will be telecast live on several government channels, including national broadcaster Doordarshan, Parliament’s channels, and the Government of India's YouTube channels. Sansad TV will also broadcast the event live.


On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial meeting with economists ahead of the Union Budget 2024. Sitharaman also participated in the pre-Budget meeting. In addition to economists and sectoral experts, Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery and other members were also took part at the meeting. This meeting is highly crucial for the upcoming Budget.
