A day before the Finance Minister tables the Budget document, the Economic Survey is presented in the Parliament. The presentation of the Economic Survey marks the beginning of the Budget Session. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table her eighth consecutive Union Budget this year on February 1, 2025.
What Is The Economic Survey?
The survey represents a report card of the domestic economy and is seen as a roadmap for the government and its fiscal priorities. The document provides a detailed overview of the economic performance of the country and also highlights the major trends across sectors such as agriculture, services, and industry. The survey also details the revenue allocations of the government and provides suggestions for policy directions for the upcoming fiscal year.
Who Prepares The Economic Survey?
The Economic Survey is prepared by the Department of Economic Affairs which comes the Ministry of Finance and includes details, data about the welfare schemes, and Indian economy. The document is prepared under the supervision of the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA). This year, the survey has been prepared by the CEA, V Anantha Nageswaran.

When Will The Economic Survey Be Released?
The Budget Session of the Parliament begins tomorrow at 11 AM. The Economic Survey will be presented on the first day of the Budget Session by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Budget Session will run from January 31 to Feb 13 and March 10 to April 4 this year.
