With everyone gearing up for Navratri, Durga Puja, and the multitude of festivals lined up in October, it is important that you keep a tab on the official holidays for banks and the market to avoid any inconvenience.

The official list of bank holidays in the country is published by the RBI and is available on the central bank’s website. As far as bank holidays are concerned, October 2, 2024 is a national holiday and banks across the country will remain close to mark the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

Further, even the stock market is closed on Wednesday for this holiday. There are three national holidays observed in India, namely, Republic Day on January 26, Independence Day on August 15, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Banks remain shut across the nation on these holidays.

Apart from the national holidays, banks also observe leaves on weekends including all Sundays and second and fourth Saturday. The list published by the Reserve Bank of India includes these holidays in addition to regional festivals.

For instance, banks in Rajasthan will remain close on October 3, 2024, as well to mark the festival of Navratra Sthapna. Other holidays lined up in the month based on festivals are mentioned below.
