Bank Holidays May 2024: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its list of holidays, indicating that banks will be closed for 12 days during the month of May. This includes all Sundays, and the second and fourth Saturdays. Additionally, some states will observe bank closures due to Lok Sabha elections. Furthermore, festivities such as Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary, Nazrul Jayanti, and Akshaya Tritiya will contribute to the bank closures.

According to the RBI guidelines, bank holidays in India are categorised into three types: those governed by the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

It's worth noting that closures may not occur simultaneously across all states. However, internet banking services will remain operational during these holidays. People planning to visit the bank this month should keep these days in their accounts before visiting a nearby branch to avoid any inconvenience.
