Bank Holidays 2021: Banks To Remain Shut For 12 Days In May. Check Complete List Of Cities Here

Most banks will remain closed on May 1, May 7, May 13, May 14 and May 26 on account of Labour Day, Jumat-ul-Vida, Id-Ul-Fitr, Akshaya Tritiya and Buddha Pournima, respectively. 

After private and public banks remained shut for almost 15 days in April, the RBI calendar for the May has listed up to 12 day closure for banks including the second and fourth Saturdays apart from all Sundays.

Mostly, banks are closed on all public or national holidays including festivals based on the region. The banks in several states will be closed on occasion of Eid-UI-Fitra on May 14. Banks including the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks and regional banks, will observe the holidays on May 1, May 7, May 13, May 14 and May 26 on account of Labour Day, Jumat-ul-Vida, Id-Ul-Fitr, Akshaya Tritiya and Buddha Pournima, respectively. 

However, it is to be noted that bank operations will not be closed for all five days across the country as regional holidays differ from states to states.

The apex bank on its website listed the days when the banking operations will remain shut in May 2021. The list of holidays been notified by RBI under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Which banks in cities are operating on May 1,7,13,14 and 26?

Also, note that banks across the country including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizwal, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, and Srinagar will remain functional on May 1.

Except for banks in Jammu and Shimla, banks in all the states will remain open on May 7.

On May 13, only banks in Belapur, Jammu, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed.

While on May 14 banks will be functional in cities including Belapur, Jammu, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

Similarly, on occasion of Buddha Pournima (May 26), banks in Ahmedabad, Aizwal, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi, Panaji, Patna, Shillong and Thiruvananthapuram will remain operational.

Customers looking to visit their respective banks in the April are suggested to visit the branch as per the holidays.  While the bank branches will remain closed on the mentioned days below, mobile and internet banking will be functional as usual. All bank customers should note of the list of holidays in April to avoid any inconvenience.
