Troubles for airline passengers in India seem to be never-ending. After the mass flight cancellations from Vistara early last month, now more than 70 flights were cancelled by Air India Express from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning.

The flights, both international and domestic, were called off after the airline’s senior crew members took a mass ‘sick leave’, reported ANI citing sources.

The matter is being looked into by the Civil Aviation authorities. Responding to the flight cancellations, a spokesperson for Air India Express explained, “A section of our cabin crew has reported sick at the last minute, starting last night, resulting in flight delays and cancellations. While we are engaging with the crew to understand the reasons behind these occurrences, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimise any inconvenience caused to our guests as a result.”

Seeking apologies for the inconvenience, the spokesperson informed that the passengers impacted by the cancellations will either receive a full refund from the airline or be allowed to reschedule their flight without any extra charges.

Further, the spokesperson advised the passengers flying with the airline on Wednesday to contact the carrier before reaching the airport.
