Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) on Friday announced a reduction in the prices of Compressed natural gas CNG by up to Rs 8.13/kg and piped natural gas (PNG) by up to Rs 5.06 for its customers. The ATGL also reduced the PNG prices for industrial and commercial consumers by Rs 3.0/scm across Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Faridabad, Khurja, and Palwal which it said will help its industrial and commercial consumers to adopt more volume of PNG.

In a statement, the ATGL welcomed the Indian Government's "landmark decision to link the APM (Administered Price Mechanism) price for gas supply to CNG vehicles and residential households to 10% of the monthly average of the Indian crude basket with a floor of $4 and a cap of $6.5 per MMBTU."

"In line with our policy benefitting end consumers, ATGL has decided to pass on the benefit of new gas pricing guidelines to our large number of PNG and CNG consumers, making it more affordable with savings of over 40% for CNG users compared to petrol price and around 15% for PNG consumers compared to LPG price," the ATGL announced.

"Effective from midnight tonight, ATGL will reduce the price of CNG by up to Rs 8.13/kg and PNG by up to Rs 5.06. The new reduced price applicable in our geographical areas (GAs) across the country is given in the table attached," the statement read.

It further mentioned, "ATGL believes that the government’s step to revise the gas price will act as a growth catalyst and aid in the rapid PNG and CNG conversions, increasing the share of natural gas in India’s energy basket from 6.5% to 15% by 2030. The substantial reduction in the CNG and PNG prices will bring much-needed relief to large number of CNG and PNG users in the country and in the ATGL GAs. This is going to increase the consumption of natural gas in domestic and transportation segment, leading towards cleaner and greener India."

ATGL is one of the largest CGD private-listed companies currently supplying CNG and PNG to 7 lakh domestic, 4,000 commercial, and 2,000 industrial customers. It also has over 3 lakh CNG users across 460 CNG stations in India.

The Union government on Friday announced a natural gas price of USD 7.92 per unit for the remainder of April according to the just approved new pricing formula, but rates for consumers have been capped at USD 6.5 per unit.

According to an order of the Oil Ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell, the price of natural gas for April 8 to April 30 period comes to USD 7.92 per million British thermal unit going by the new indexation of pricing it at 10 per cent of imported cost of crude oil.
