The Union Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur has welcomed the Budget 2021 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and described it as an inclusive and major step towards 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. Speaking exclusively in ABP News' Jan Man Dhan Budget Conclave, the union minister on Tuesday said the Budget 2021 is such a budget in the history of India that people will remember for years. Modi government well in time decided its priority, brought a self-reliant package, took measures to reduce unemployment, and thus help boost the economy even during the Covid-19 pandemic.


"Last year the income of the government was low. But there was a good collection in GST in the past four months due to the timely steps taken by the government," Thakur said.


He went on to say that the central government under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the country secure sixth top world economy from the number 11. "We found opportunities in disaster and worked to build a self-reliant India. All these steps will help to achieve the target of five trillion-dollar economy."

Speaking of the Modi government tackling the Covid-19 pandemic in India, Thakur said, at the time when the world was struggling with Covid, India made sure that no poor sleeps hungry even a single night. Arrangements were made to feed over 80 crore poor; money was sent directly to women and farmers.


As far as the free Covid vaccine is concerned, the minister said that the first lot of the vaccine consignment is for the health workers and front-line workers, but if it is needed further, we will provide.
