While the notorious ‘chicken or egg’ question may not impact your life as much, there is a similar query that is nothing short of a dealbreaker, impacting everyone’s career prospects and advancement. Yes, read the last part again.

‘Is higher education a fundamental right?’ has a raging for a long. As per UNESCO, the right to higher education is part of the fundamental right to education, protected in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Indian perspective is a little different, with the honorable Supreme Court stating in a 2021 verdict that the ‘right to higher education is not a fundamental right, but certainly an affirmative obligation of state’. Rough estimates suggest that only 40 Million young Indians were enrolled for higher education in universities in 2021. The global figures would be equally meagre, if not worse.

Global issues, local perspective - Similar issues plague higher education

While higher education may have become accessible through the internet, local restrictions, regional issues and differences in geo-political outlook have left it out of the reach of many, particularly in Asia and Africa. Factors such as limited infrastructure, economic disparities, and cultural diversity can create barriers to quality education. Additionally, local regulations and government policies can affect the availability and affordability of higher education options, further exacerbating these challenges.

Recognizing the importance of addressing these issues, the Eduverse Summit 2023 has taken on the task of bringing together educators, visionaries, and academicians from diverse countries and backgrounds. This initiative is not just about celebrating diversity but also about leveraging it as a powerful tool for change.

Technology: The biggest enabler for higher education

Incorporating technological innovation in higher education is not just essential but the only way for institutions to thrive and promote equity, accessibility, and quality education. Technology has played a crucial role in enabling universities to remain connected during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing online teaching and digital skills. Eduverse Summit 2023 has dedicated workshops to address these new trends and ideas. The summit will share data points, presentations, and virtual and augmented reality experiences to help delegates understand crucial pointers and also exchange their viewpoints.

Vision for India as an educational superpower

The upcoming Eduverse Summit in October 2023 is set to discuss the progress made by India in higher education. With "India: Paving the way for educational excellence by 2050" as its sub-theme, the summit will throw light on new approaches, initiatives and mass programs that are shaping the country’s education sector. The summit’s spotlight sections include India's National Education Policy 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in education, which will explore key achievements in India and its global impact.

The future is collaborative learning

Eduverse Summit is poised to reshape the future of education through global collaborations. By nurturing exciting discussions, global delegates will share, learn and adopt new practices for a better future of education. This is a ‘one of a kind’ platform that holds tremendous potential to bridge the gap between traditional classroom learning and the digital world, fostering critical thinking and global connectivity. At the heart of this transformative mission is the belief that education is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. The summit recognizes that education should be dynamic, responsive, and adaptable to the evolving needs of learners in the 21st century. It understands that traditional models of education, while valuable, may not always be sufficient in preparing students for the challenges of an increasingly globalized and digital world.

Eduverse Summit is not merely an event; it is a movement that is shaping the future of education. It is a platform where global collaboration and innovation converge with the limitless possibilities of the digital age. As the summit continues to evolve and inspire, it holds the potential to revolutionize education as we know it, ushering in a brighter and more promising future for learners everywhere.
