India, March 6: Introducing a new player in the UPI game: Flipkart has launched its own UPI with Scan & Pay service, allowing users to make offline payments using the Flipkart app alongside their online shopping experience.
But wait, there's more! Flipkart's launch comes with a twist: the platform calls it "India's most rewarding UPI". It challenges users to make it the "world's most expensive ad" by scanning the QR code printed on a leading newspaper front page in the Sunday unique advertisement.
Here's how it works:
- Every time someone scanned the unique QR code in their print ad to register for Flipkart, UPI received 10 FREE SuperCoins. These SuperCoins offer various benefits, starting from just ₹1.
- Flipkart claims each scan costs them around ₹10. So, the more people scan, the more expensive the ad becomes for them.
Flipkart throws down the gauntlet:
- Its ad copy asks, "How expensive will India make this ad for Flipkart?" and "How rewarding will you make it for yourself?"
- It playfully suggests that with a high number of scans, it will be footing a hefty bill, but users will be reaping the rewards.
