The proposal to introduce Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious ‘One Nation, One Election (ONOE)’ initiative has been tabled in the Lok Sabha. In the vote to admit the ONOE bills, 269 votes were received in favour and 198 against. The government has now sent the bills to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further deliberations.
