The Indian car market has been steadily focussed on the Rs 10-25 lakh space with more launches there and more options while the sub Rs 10 lakh segment has been starved of new launches. The new Nissan Magnite has been launched recently which is one such launch in the affordable space while all new cars are expected to be the new Dzire from Maruti and the Kylaq. Both of these two would be having a price which would start at below Rs 10 lakh.
Both are sub 4m products and give more options to buyers in this price bracket. We expect the new Dzire to start from Rs 7.5 lakh with more safety features as standard including 6 airbags and more features including a sunroof as well as a 360 degree camera. The new generation Dzire will have a new look altogether and a different cabin in terms of the upholstery vs the Swift on which it is based. In terms of the engine option, the Dzire will come with a 1.2l new 3 cylinder engine as seen with the new Swift.
The other launch would be the Kylaq from Skoda which would be its smallest SUV yet and also its most affordable product. We expect the Kylaq to start from under 8 lakh starting and would be much more affordable than the Kushaq SUV which is above 4m. The Kylaq would be a sub 4m SUV while debuting the new Skoda design language plus having features like a 360 degree camera and a sunroof. The Kylaq will come with a 1.0 TSI as standard with a manual as well as an automatic gearbox option.
