Triumph has launched its 400 X motorcycle at a price of Rs 2.62 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The Scrambler 400 X prices come after the Speed 400 but the Scrambler is tuned for more off-road riding plus being a dirt bike of sorts. The details include a 150mm long-travel suspension at both ends, 835mm seat height, and 195mm ground clearance. It also gets switchable traction control and a bigger 19-inch front wheel along with an upswept exhaust.
There are three colour schemes with a Scrambler tank stripe. The design of this takes cues from the bigger Scrambler 900 and 1200 while it gets some classic Triumph design cues while sporting the Triumph DRL signature.
The engine is a liquid-cooled fuel-injected 398cc motor with 40ps and 37.5Nm along with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a weight of 179 kg. Elsewhere it gets ride-by-wire throttle, an LCD screen plus USB-C charging. You can book one at Rs 10,000.
There are some distinct changes from its sibling particularly in the looks department and having more wheel travel than the Speed. Just like the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 would be built at the Bajaj Chakan plant.
Rivals include the Yezdi Roadster and the BMW G310 GS plus the KTM 390 Adventure. Bajaj-Triumph is bullish on its bikes with its midsize motorcycles being expected to capture a fairly large segment share. Both the bikes upon reveal got a large number of bookings with Bajaj ramping up production.
