Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy demanded the Congress government release a white paper on the ongoing power crisis in the state. JD(S) leader HDK alleged that the lack of vision and management failure were pushing to state to an unheard power crisis in history. He said that the government had given half-fulfilled guarantee schemes and washed its hands away.
According to IANS, JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy alleged before the Navratri festival the Congress government plans to extend the guarantee of darkness to the state.
This would be the sixth guarantee scheme by the Congress, he stated.
By December, Kumaraswamy said, the state will be pushed into a great power crisis for sure and the free power scheme Griha Jyothi will be done away with and the state will be in pitch darkness by January 2024.
On the day Tamil Nadu government passed a resolution seeking Cauvery water, Kumaraswamy alleged that Tamil Nadu was gifted with an enormous water. However, the farmers of the state were gifted with load shedding and no power.
He said, "The crops are dying due to the shortage of electricity. There is no water in the channels and there is no electricity to pump the water. Before the crisis, the Karnataka state was falling short in production of electricity."
The state has already started begging for electricity from other states and there was also a shortfall in the production of hydro, wind and solar-powered electricity, he said adding that there was inefficiency and lack of vision for the state government.
The Congress is about to cause a major power crisis in the state, he warned.
