Badge engineering is a common practice amongst car makers and Toyota plus Maruti have perhaps the largest range comprising these cars. It all started with the Glanza being a rebadged Baleno while later the Brezza was also rebadged while Maruti Suzuki also has the rebadged Invicto too.

Continuing this trend, Toyota has shown the first look of its Urban Cruiser Taisor which shows some changes over the Fronx on which it is based. While the basic silhouette remains the same the Urban Cruiser Taisor does get mild cosmetic tweaks including a +n updated front bumper plus grille while it even gets a new set of alloy wheels.

The grille is different and it also gets a different DRL signature from the Nexa one in the Fronx. It will also get a different colour over the Fronx. Inside, the feature list is expected to be shared with the Fronx including a heads up display plus a 360 degree camera plus climate control, connected car tech and more. It will also have a 9-inch touchscreen as with the Fronx.

The engine line-up is interesting though as the Urban Cruiser Taisor could come with both powertrains while the boosterjet turbo petrol which is only available in the Fronx could be available in fewer trims in the Taisor. Toyota could offer a different warranty package over the Fronx while these small changes are what will make the difference between the Fronx and this car.

The Urban Cruiser Taisor will most likely carry a premium over the Fronx although it would be minimal. The Taisor would be the most affordable SUV and will take the place of the Urban Cruiser which earlier was a rebadged Brezza which is now not offered anymore with the Toyota line-up in India.
