New Delhi: With the recent stopping of the Yaris sedan being on sale, the replacement would be the Ciaz based Belta. Like all Toyota badged Maruti cars, the Belta would largely be similar to the Ciaz except for minor upgrades.

To be launched towards the end of this year, the Belta is expected to be priced above the Maruti Ciaz which comes in between the Rs 8.7 lakh- Rs 11.7 lakh bracket.

Going by some spy images, the Belta is nearly the same as the Ciaz even including the grille, tail lamps, alloy wheels plus the headlamps of course. It has a new Toyota grille and Belta badging.

The interior too would be the same with the beige dual-tone theme being carried over along with a 7-inch touchscreen, powered mirrors, cruise control, rear AC vents and more. It would also sport the latest infotainment system by Maruti with a Toyota branding.

The engine line-up would be shared but unlike the Ciaz, there would be fewer variants on offer with the Belta. The engine would be the same 1.5l petrol with either a 5-speed manual or a torque converter automatic.

There would be an SHVS mild-hybrid system too for increasing the efficiency of the car. The Belta will most likely start from Rs 9 lakh and go on till Rs 12 lakh. It is expected to also have a longer warranty than the Ciaz from Maruti.

Toyota is currently selling the Glanza, Urban Cruiser as rebranded Maruti products while the Belta would be the third. The Belta will rival the likes of the Honda City and Hyundai Verna along with its own Ciaz sibling of course.
