The Punch has been revealed and that also puts it straight into consideration in regards to its sibling which is the Tata Altroz. While the Tata Altroz is a premium hatchback, the Punch is supposed to be around the same size and price. Here is a small specifications comparison.


Dimensions


The Altroz is longer than the Punch with a length of 3990mm vs 3827mm of the Punch. The Altroz is also wider than the Punch with a width of 1755mm vs 1615mm. The Altroz has lower ground clearance though at 165mm vs 190mm of the Punch. It is clear that the Punch is taller and an SUV while the longer Altroz is a hatchback. Both look premium in their own ways along with the fact that Tata has given personalization options and more for the Punch. The Altroz also has dual-tone options and sportier colours on offer.

Engine


Both the Altroz and the Punch share the same 1.2l petrol engine with 86bhp but the main difference is that the Punch offers an AMT automatic also with a manual gearbox while the Altroz is manual only. The Punch and Altroz offer city and eco modes. That said the Altroz offers a turbo petrol engine too which is more powerful while the Altroz turbo also has a sports mode above the two modes present on the 1.2l petrol. Also do note that the Altroz also offers a BS6 diesel engine while the Punch is limited to a petrol-only configuration. 


Features


Both the Altroz and the Punch share many features including cruise control, 7inch touchscreen, part digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, smartphone connectivity, auto headlamps, 90 degree doors opening etc. The Altroz has an express cooling function while Punch has idle start/stop, traction pro mode for the AMT version etc. Both cars are very well equipped and share many of the equipment levels with some minor tweaks. The Punch also gets a sportier coloured air vent design and more personalization.

The Altroz is priced between Rs 5.84 lakh to Rs 9.59 lakh while the Punch is expected to be priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh for the AMT top-end. So which one will you prefer, the premium hatchback or the small SUV?
