This is the first turbocharged CNG car and here, the Nexon gets the twin-cylinder technology which is also present in the other CNG cars. Of interest is the fact that the Nexon CNG also now has the option of a panoramic sunroof too. However, back to the powertrain and the Nexon CNG has the 1.2l turbocharged petrol engine which in CNG form develops slightly less power at 100PS of power but the torque is the same at 170 NM.

With the twin cylinder tech, the boot space is not affected so much as in the Nexon CNG the boot space is 321 litres, which is down by only 60l. Just like on the other Tata Motors CNG cars, the Nexon CNG has the direct start feature in CNG mode and a single ECU which means you can automatically switch between petrol and CNG.

The equipment levels also have received an update with the Nexon CNG also available with higher trims with features like a Panoramic Sunroof, Leatherette Ventilated Seats, 360 degree camera and the 10.25 inch Infotainment Screen plus a 10.25 inch fully-digital instrument cluster. Prices have increased by a lakh over the petrol Nexon but the savings if your running is high would indeed cover that extra price that you pay.

Speaking of which, the Nexon CNG is priced at Rs 8.99 lakh starting and the top-end is Rs 14.59 lakh for the fully loaded Fearless Plus. Compared to rivals, the Nexon CNG is the most feature packed CNG SUV with premium features while it could even get an AMT automatic option later while now it is manual only. Tata Motors have also added a new larger 45kWh battery pack in the Nexon EV which has faster charging speeds at 1.2C rating and an increased range of 489 km (Urban + Extra Urban) while the real-world range is 350–370 km.
