Tata Motors has a full house of new cars to show at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo and that also included the Harrier EV in a production-ready form. The Harrier EV was earlier first shown at the 2023 Auto Expo but this version is closer to production and showcases what will be seen at the showroom floors.
The Harrier EV is expected to hit the market this year with the various Tata EV launches. It will come before the rumoured petrol version. The Harrier EV is distinctive for its various EV touches and the Seaweed green paint. The paint scheme was also seen on the recently launched Punch EV.
The Harrier EV is based on a different electric architecture. Just like the Punch EV, it is based on the new Acti.EV platform. This means it will get more flexibility and a modular platform. Styling-wise it looks futuristic with a different grille, aero-optimised bumpers and wheels along and a bold rear.
Since it is a flagship EV, we expect the Harrier EV to have a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) layout, along with the largest battery pack seen on a Tata EV yet.
We also expect a range of more than 500 km per charge, thanks to a larger battery pack. This car would come before the even more premium Sierra. The Harrier EV would sit at the top end of the Tata EV range in India.
The showcase at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo hints that the Harrier EV is waiting in the wings and will probably be launched by the second half of this year. Details are awaited regarding the exact features of the battery pack and the motor.
