Skoda India has dropped the prices for its Kushaq and Slavia in India by nearly Rs 1 lakh in India with the variant names also being changed to Classic, Signature and Prestige. The Classic trim is now priced at Rs 10.69 lakh for the Slavia and that means we should do a check with other cars in its class too.
The Slavia comes with 1.0 AT and MT along with 1.5l AT and MT. The top-end MT 1.0 Slavia Prestige is now Rs 15.99 lakh while the 1.0 AT is Rs 17.09 lakh. The 1.5 does not come with the Classic trim as instead it is available with the Signature and Prestige trims at 15.49 lakh and 17.49 lakh for the manual plus Rs 16.69 lakh and 18.69 lakh for the automatic top-end 1.5.
In comparison the Hyundai Verna starts at Rs 11 lakh while the top-end is Rs 17.42 lakh. The Honda City meanwhile is priced between Rs 11.8 lakh to Rs 16.30 lakh.
The sibling to the Slavia is of course the Volkswagen Virtus which is priced between Rs 11.5 lakh to Rs 19.4 lakh. Lastly the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is priced between Rs 9.4 to Rs 12.2 lakh. Hence, the Slavia after the price cut is now very good value but we have to remember that it is for a limited period only.
Skoda also says that this price cut has been achieved through efficiencies in operations and economies of scale and these benefits in-turn have been passed on to customers. Skoda is also gearing up to launch its new subcompact SUV by early 2025 which would be positioned below the Kushaq as a sub 4m offering.
