The Simple One electric scooter was recently launched at a price of INR 1,45,000 while the Super EV- Simple ONE will be available at a price of INR 1,58,000 which also includes a 750W charger. This price is more than what the initial expected pricing was but the specifications have also been updated including a larger battery pack. The Simple One now comes with fixed and removable (portable) batteries which gives a range of 212 kms in IDC. In terms of acceleration, the 0-40 kmph time is 2.77 seconds which is due to the peak power of 8.5kw and continuous power of 4.5KW. You also get four ride modes – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic.

There is also a thermal management system, developed collaboratively with IIT-Indore. The startup will also increase its presence. However, the question remains: should you buy it? The Simple One is the heaviest electric scooter but it also has a longer wheelbase than other e-scooters too. If we talk about features there is a 7-inch TFT display plus Bluetooth and 4G connectivity plus OTA updates. There is also LED lighting.

If we talk about its chief rivals, there are two namely the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro. All three are well-equipped and fast electric scooters. In terms of performance, the Simple One is the quickest in terms of 0-40kmph while the Ola S1 Pro has the highest top-speed of 116kmph vs the 105 of the Ola and 90kmph of the Ather. You have to also keep in mind that the Simple One is the heaviest.

If we talk about practicality the Ola S1 Pro has the biggest boot space at 36 litres while the Simple One comes in at 30l vs 26 of the Ather. The Simple One also has a taller seat while ground clearance wise it matches the Ola S1 Pro. The same can be done for features as all three are well equipped.

In terms of pricing, the Simple One is a lot more expensive now as mentioned earlier and that is due to the prices under the new Fame-2 subsidy and that has also meant that the Ola S1 Pro and the Ather 450X are also much more expensive. Hence, the Simple One matches its rivals but is not a bargain for now when compared to the other two while also having limited availability. However, it does have more performance and torque as seen with its power figures. We are yet to test the new Simple One while till now both the Ola and the Ather have impressed us, the Ola with its performance while Ather is practical too.
