The MG Comet is not your usual car and our first drive with this new EV showed how different it is along with being a fun little city car. However, a true test is when you spend some time with it. Hence, we spent five days with the MG Comet to see how good it is to drive. First of all the tiny dimensions do not impact the attention it draws. Everyone comes to have a good look because it is something very different. The styling punches more than its dimensions while a closer look revealed premium quality along with a good paint finish. It feels premium and the same thing can be said for the interiors.
While the grey/white look can be a dirt magnet, the design is simple and again simply works. You will be using this as a city car and for that, it just about has enough space for a laptop bag of sorts. The starting procedure is again simple with not even having a start/stop button. A simple two taps on the brake pedal and you are off with a simple procedure of turning off the car also as you simply need to walk away and lock it. Visibility as our first drive review stated is excellent and the small dimensions made it a joy to drive.
In terms of range also you will get closer to its official estimate and expect 160-180km easily. We got 180km which is quite impressive. Charging is where we think the MG Comet needs to get fast charging as it is currently not equipped with it. You can only charge it via a standard AC home charger while fast AC or DC charging is not available. Hence, this is something you need to take care of and charge at your home only. Hence, the charging time is around 5-6 hours to get to 80 percent.
The MG Comet won't be your only car or something to take to the highways. I did take it on a highway and was a comfortable drive till 70-80kmph but it is a city car at best while doing a great job at that. During our stint with it, it was quick, easy to drive, and felt premium. As a plain city car and going A-B this is an interesting choice.
