It was originally planned for April or May but due to obvious reasons, it was delayed. Finally, though, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the pricing of the new GLA in an understandably subdued press release the only affair. This is probably one of their most important SUVs since it is the entry point in the SUV range for anyone buying a Mercedes-Benz. This is an all-new model and it is based on a new platform which gives it more space. It is also taller, wider and longer now while inside, the interior seems like a proper Mercedes-Benz with no signs of being watered down.

The interior borrows the twin-screen design with 10.25-inch screens- all digital for the instrument cluster and the centre touch screen. The wheelbase is the highest in the class with 2729mm while there is more space at the back along with more headroom. The GLA is also fully loaded with 7 airbags, digital screens as mentioned above, connected car technology, voice command tech powered by AI, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, 2-zone climate control with Hepa filter, wireless smartphone connectivity, powered seats with memory, ambient lighting with 64 colours, wireless charging and more.

In the engine department, you get a choice of petrol or diesel. The petrol makes 163hp and 250Nm with front-wheel drive and a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel makes 190hp and 400Nm which you can get with 4-wheel drive and it has an 8-speed automatic as standard.

There are five colour options while there is a warranty on the engine and transmission for eight years alongside the standard warranty. Prices for the new GLA start at Rs 42.10 lakh while going all the way to Rs 46.7 lakh for the diesel top-end. These are introductory and would be increased soon. If you want more power, Mercedes has also launched the AMG GLA 35 at Rs 577.3 lakh. It is locally produced hence carries aggressive pricing with its 306bhp and 400Nm power on offer. A full review of this SUV is coming soon.
