Electrification has changed our mass-market cars but also has an equally big impact on performance cars. Electricity adds instant performance and torque while the petrol engine continues to be the heart and soul of performance cars. Hence, how about both? Enter the AMG GT63 SE Performance, the first super hybrid from AMG and its fastest or even one of the fastest cars that you can buy. We had a first look and it sure is a stunner - both in terms of looks and performance numbers!

The AMG GT63 SE Performance uses a high-performance battery developed in-house and an electric motor which adds more power to the already powerful 4.0 litre V8.

Hence, the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and electric motor generate a system output of 843 hp and a maximum torque of more than 1,400 Nm. That is more than some supercars right now and beats much more expensive two-door cars.

The performance claims indicate that with a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 316km/h. 200 km/h takes place in under 10 seconds!

The other interesting bit is that above the exhausts, there is a charging flap and the electric motor with 201hp is positioned at the rear axle with an electrically shifted two-speed gearbox. It even has an EV-only range of 12km while you can charge it via a 3.7kw AC charger or a household socket.

It uses Formula One tech and is a lesson in how to combine electricity and petrol to generate huge amounts of performance. Being a plug-in hybrid, the car starts silently in electric mode while there is a four-stage selectable regeneration modes along with "Electric", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport+", "RACE", "Slippery" and "Individual" driving modes. The gearbox is an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT-9G transmission and it gets air suspension too along with being all-wheel drive of course.

Styling-wise, the AMG GT four-door is a big car with a coupe-like design while the low-slung look makes it a jet fighter on the road. The AMG styling bits add to the presence including an AMG-specific radiator grille, an electrically extendable and retractable spoiler, twin exhausts and E Performance badging.

Inside, the cabin is a mix of Mercedes luxury and AMG sportiness. There is an AMG performance steering wheel and an MBUX system with hybrid-specific displays. With four doors, you get proper space at the back for two passengers too.

To be launched in a few days, the AMG GT63 SE Performance would be one of the fastest cars that you can buy in India but something which can also scare your family and friends!
