AMG is known for eight cylinders and loads of noise with the previous C63 AMGs being a powerful saloon known for combining supercar pace with sedan practicality. The new C 63 is different and takes help from F1 tech to add more power but a complex plug-in hybrid powertrain. Having launched today, the AMG C 63 SE Performance has the most powerful four cylinder engine being a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine with a rear-mounted electric motor. This hybrid powertrain makes 680 hp and 1020 Nm of torque, which means a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds while being a lot more powerful.
The 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive is standard but there is a drift mode too. Like all AMG engines it is a hand built unit and has an electric turbocharger but the electric motor also adds to the acceleration too. Other highlights include a 6.1 kWh high-performance battery, eight drive modes, rear axle steering while high performance brakes along with AMG drivers package brings in more top-speed of 280 km/h. While it is a big change from the earlier V8, this new powertrain does bring in more technology plus power albeit with a more complicated powertrain.
The C 63 is the fastest sedan and is a high performance version which means it is wider and longer with a more aggressive look thanks to a different AMG grille and other additions along with AMG special 20-inch wheels. Inside, there is lots of carbon and an AMG specific steering wheel plus features like a heads up display and a 15 speaker audio system etc. The C 63 being an import is Rs 1.95 cr and that is the most expensive C-Class along with the one with most power while competing with the likes of the BMW M4 CS.
