Matter Energy has finally revealed its electric bike called the Aera. It is priced between Rs 1.4 to Rs 1.5 lakh and comes with variants called AERA 4000, AERA 5000, AERA 5000+, AERA 6000+ with pre-register price for AERA 5000 will be Rs 1,43,999/- and AERA 5000+ will be at Rs 1,53,999. These are introductory prices and could be revised soon as well.

In terms of battery capacity, the Aera comes with two battery capacities, 5kWh and 6kWh. It uses an in-house built liquid-cooled battery pack and powertrain with the 5kWh version on sale with a claimed range of 125km. It develops 10kW of power while the acceleration of 0 to 60 kmph takes place in under 6 seconds. The bike is also fast charging compatible in under 2 hours while a normal charge is around 5 hours. There are 3 riding modes too and there is a HyperShift 4-speed Manual Transmission. It has disc brakes and has Dual sensor Single Channel ABS.

The display has a 7-inch LCD with Capacitive Touchscreen with 4G, Wi-Fi and BT 5.0 along with connected features while also giving out predicted range, offline navigation, park assist, gear indicator etc. The bike also comes with a keyless entry.

The company plans to have more dealerships in the coming months and deliveries will start soon.

In terms of design, the Aera has an edgy and aggressive look with the stance of a performance motorcycle with its alloy wheel design along with the LED headlamp. Another important factor is that the Aera is the first electric motorcycle to have a 4-speed gearbox while getting a decent features list.

The Matter Aera promises a riding experience similar to an ICE two-wheeler motorcycle with added range and the useability of being electric.

The Aera will compete with the likes of the Torq Kratos and the Revolt RV400 while the electric motorcycle segment is still nascent compared to the popular and increasingly competitive electric scooter space.
