Maruti Suzuki will enter into the EV segment with its first made for India EV which also has a HEARTECT-e platform specially designed for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). This means that it will have benefits of EV packaging while this would be a first for the carmaker in India. The e Vitara would be shown in production form which was unveiled globally sometime back. The production version will be a premium compact SUV of sorts and would be a premium product that would be sold via Nexa sales outlets.

Expected Battery Packs For India

It remains to be seen whether the two battery packs come to India or we get the small one to save costs. The e Vitara has been revealed with a 49 and 61kWh battery pack while also having AWD- something not seen on other EVs at this price point. This is the production version of the eVX which was seen at the last Auto Expo in India.

The car has short overhangs, flat floor and will have more features than other Maruti Suzuki cars thus showing its premium status. The range would be around 550km per charge and that is also more than some of the current EVs although India specific details have not been shared yet and would probably be shared at the unveiling event.

EV Segment Of Maruti Suzuki

This is the first global EV by Maruti Suzuki and will compete with the likes of the Creta EV from Hyundai, Curvv EV from Tata. EV and others. This would not be the only EV as the carmaker plans many EVs for the Indian market.
