New Delhi: While the buzz about the new Scorpio N is quite strong, the XUV700 continues to have high demand in India with a waiting list which goes on for many months. So, if you are looking for a new Mahindra SUV some variants are bound to overlap between two of the much-talked-about car launches of recent times. The new Scorpio N and XUV700 may be siblings but many buyers would consider both so our article here tries to simplify each SUV.

Which is bigger?

There is not much difference between both the two SUVs while in terms of length, the Scorpio N is 4,662mm while the XUV700 has a length of 4,695mm. In terms of width, the Scorpio N is wider at 1,917mm along with the XUV700 coming in at 1,890mm. The surprising bit is that both the XUV700 and the Scorpio N have the same wheelbase of 2,750mm.

Which is more powerful?

The XUV700 comes with a 2.0l turbo petrol with 200bhp while the 2.2l diesel has 185bhp for top-end variants while the lower variants would be 155bhp. The XUV700 has either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic. There are four drive modes which also affect steering response. There is an all-wheel-drive version with the diesel too. The Scorpio N will also come with the same 2.0l turbo petrol and the 2.2l diesel but the power outputs would be lower than the XUV700 with a different state of tune. The Scorpio N will get a 4-wheel drive system with low range mode and terrain modes.

Which one has more features?

Both interiors are well made and look premium. The Scorpio N has a dual-tone dark beige/black interior scheme while the XUV700 has a lighter one. There is silver trim across the dashboard too while the XUV700 has a fully digital dial set-up while the Scorpio N has a part digital set-up with a screen in the middle. Both SUVs get the latest ArdenoX infotainment system with connected car technology, dual-zone climate control and more. Both also will get the Sony 3D to surround sound system plus premium features like cruise control and more. That said, the XUV700 has a panoramic sunroof and ADAS as well while the Scorpio N will get a standard sunroof. There is a difference in the sense that the Scorpio N gets a captain seat via a 6-seater layout while the XUV700 has a bench layout. You will also note that the XUV700 has a powered handbrake while the Scorpio N will have a manual one. Safety features would more or less be the same.

Which would be more expensive?

Here is when things get interesting as the XUV700 starts from an aggressive 13.18 lakh and goes onto Rs 24.5 lakh. We expect the new Scorpio N to be much cheaper and have a lower starting price for the petrol manual version while the top-end versions would be around Rs 20 lakh for the diesel 4WD variant. While both SUVs are similar, their positioning and their brand values are different with the XUV700 being more feature-rich while the Scorpio N is more offroad friendly and rugged.
